Splash!
I’ve been so looking forward to this, the first acrylic painting workshop of 2026 and, as ever, it was everything I have come to expect and more. Everyone embraced new techniques and, following step by step instructions, painted a super picture while still managing to put their own stamp onto the finished piece. Seeing technically…

Mucho Guano
Inflicting another holiday snap onto my students, this week’s class was experimenting with vertical multicolour brush strokes, to imply rocks, and simplifying shapes, to create straightforward repeatable images of gulls and guilimots (we think 🤦🐧🐦⬛). Nice!

Oakham Sketch Club
I realised the other day the Wednesday evening sketch club started 18 months ago when I finally admitted to myself that my motivation is sometimes (aka often 😬) lacking when it comes to practicing my drawing. I teach the importance of drawing skills as fundamental to progressing one’s art but ‘finding the time’ has always…

Bluebell extravaganza!
Wonderful first ever Paint & Prosecco event at The Old Buttercross last night. 19 painters, all approaching the subject in their own inimitable style, something I love about these sessions. One subject, 20 different paintings. (If you include mine) Looking forward to the next one!

Bitter Sweet…
Fun afternoon today with my final 5 customers at Rural Antics, painting wine glasses. Everyone managed several pieces and, as always, the individual styles shone through. Bitter sweet, though, as it was my last ever workshop after 3 enjoyable years working with the lovely team. Rural Antics is closing at Christmas. I will miss the…

Rural Antics
What a nice way to spend a Sunday – enjoying one of my favourite art forms … silk painting. Three super ladies designing and painting silk squares, all with their own unique style shining through. The only sad thing – there is only one more workshop from me before Rural Antics closes its’ doors for…
